STACEY

I am a 6th generation Tasmanian, born and raised in Devonport. I worked in Sydney for about 25 years after completing an Arts /Asian Studies degree at the Australian National University and a postgraduate scholarship at Showa University, Tokyo.

I have always worked in property, with my main area of interest in urban master planning. I have a Grad. Dip. in Urban Estate Management from UTS, NSW and a Diploma in Agency Management from the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania.

Small business is in the family DNA, with both my mum and dad owning local businesses in Devonport since the 1960's. I started volunteering before primary school with mum doing Meals on Wheels  and started my own club in the 1970’s to remove rubbish from Coles Beach. I am a former President of the Devonport Chamber of Commerce and have had various regional roles including on the Cradle Coast Authority and the PESRAC Regional Recovery Committee.

Since 2009, I have been Principal of One Agency Collins Real Estate, the family business which I took over from my mum. The agency now has 16 employees and has been running since 1934. We sponsor a host of community organizations and sporting clubs, including the Devonport Gallery's Tidal 2.0 exhibition for the last decade, the Bluff to Boat Ramp fun run and for the last few years Paper on Skin art festival.

Four years ago I did something a bit out of my comfort zone and ran for local government.  Its been an amazing journey and I've been in awe of the talent on Devonport council both with the executive team and my fellow councilors. I'm keen to go again this October to see what more we can do to make this the most livable city in Tasmania!
