Stacey Sheehan Shares Council Update

Devonport Deputy Mayor Stacey Sheehan has provided an update on the latest work and decisions from Devonport City Council, including the decision to retain the Rooke Street Mall.

The Rooke Street Mall remains an important part of Devonport’s CBD, providing a central shopping and community space for residents, businesses and visitors.

The decision to keep the Mall comes as Council continues to look at ways to strengthen and revitalise the Devonport CBD as part of the broader LIVING CITY vision.

Council has identified opportunities for further development around the CBD, including new commercial and residential development, improved public spaces and stronger connections to existing retail areas. Importantly, current plans also retain public parking within the precinct.

Ms Sheehan’s Council update highlights the continued focus on balancing future development with the existing features that are important to Devonport’s community and local businesses.

As Devonport continues to grow, Council is working towards a CBD that supports investment, encourages activity and remains a welcoming place for residents and visitors.
